And so we enter the final week of this academic year and are hoping for good weather as we still have a number of sporting fixtures in the calendar. Our annual Sports Day takes place on Wednesday and on Friday the BMS 1st XI will play three OBM teams as we welcome former students back to school for what I am sure will be a very enjoyable afternoon of cricket.

For those students who have taken their A Levels we look forward to seeing them on 13 August when they come back to School to pick up their results.  Before that they have their Leaver’s Ball to enjoy this week before a final assembly on Friday.  They have been a superb year group and I wish them all the very best of luck with whatever they choose to do on the next stage of their journeys.  I do hope they will keep in touch!

Similarly, we will see our outgoing Year 11 students and their families on 21 August when they receive their GCSE results.

Next year looks to be a progressive one as we embark on the building of our new state-of-the-art science facility which will, I am sure, inspire many students and hopefully help to produce some eminent scientists of the future!  I will be watching the build progress with interest.  It signals a new chapter in the life of the School and one of which I am immensely proud.

And finally, as our thoughts turn to a well-deserved summer break to recharge those batteries and spend some time with family and friends I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us during the past year: parents, former parents and OBMs as well as the students for their hard work and, importantly, the staff without whose dedication, commitment and good humour BMS wouldn’t be the place that it is.
